New letterboxer here, south-to-western suburb of Chicago (Batavia,
Geneva, St. Carles, Naperville, West Chicago, Aurora... along the Fox
River). I have seen a glimpse of a west-central online group centered
in Peoria, but I cannot find a group in my neck of the woods, just
people to kick around clues with, share finds or plants, or other lb
fun. Does this portend unfulfilling days as a letterboxer?
Also, is there a way to find out if my trail name exists, so I don't
duplicate/offend, say, a veteran of the hunt or infamous scaliwag?
Anyone know of anyone else using the moniker "Lucky Star", as I intend
to do?
Thanks for reading, and happy finding!

Have you joined the Great Lakes group?
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LbGLK/
And I looked on Atlas Quest (because it is easier to search for
letterboxers by name), and no one there is using the name Lucky Star.
Welcome!

Hi Trixiemixie! Welcome to letterboxing! You might be interested in joining us over at the Letterbox Great Lakes Yahoo! group. The group covers the western GL states -- OH, IL, MI, IN, WI, MN. There are several members there from the greater Chicago area.

Greetings!
Why not join the Great Lakes LB Group at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LbGLK/
That is where all the IL letterboxers in your area are. You can also
find information on the gathering in Urbana on the 21st!
The best list of trail names can probably be found by looking at the
list of placers on LBNA. Go to the LBNA site, click on Search for
Boxes, and look through the pull down menu for Pick a Placer.
